Drumkeerin Notes
January 26, 2010
Connacht Champion
It is not often that we can say it but Drumkeerin has a Connacht
Champion in the form of James Hazlette. James travelled to Banada in
Co Mayo on Saturday afternoon and was one of only two Leitrim
participants to come away with a Connacht Scor na nOg title.
James took part in the Solo singing competition and the whole club
would like to pay credit to his achievements to date. He know moves
forward to the All Ireland ScÛr na n"g Finals which are being held in
Athlone IT on Saturday 20th February.
Ladies Senior Football Team
A meeting will take place this Thursday (28th of January) with regards
re-forming the Drumkeerin Senior Ladies Football team for 2010.
Already a number of players have expressed an interest and everybody
who would like to get get involved is invited to attend the meeting
that will take place in the DRESSING ROOMS at 8pm. This follows the
great underage success that has been experienced by our teams over the
last year.
Senior Management
The management team for the Senior Footballers has been named for
2010. Jimmy Langan returns as manager with selectors; John O'Donnell,
Johnny Langan and Noel Flynn. We wish all the men the best of luck for
the year.
Training
Training for both the Senior and Junior teams begins this Saturday
evening (Jan 30th) at 7pm sharp. All players are asked to attend.
Youth Drama
This Sunday (31st January) a number of club members will be treading
the boards for the local drama group. Led by Andy Redican, Laurine
Walpole, Gabriel Flynn and Camilla McDonagh the young stars will
perform in four one-act plays.
It is sure to be a great occasion and people are asked to support
everyone as best they can. Doors open at 7pm in the Community Centre.
Dinner Dance
The club are delighted to announce that the highlight of the
Drumkeerin GAA social calendar returns soon. On Saturday the 6th of
March our dinner dance/presentation will take place in the Ramada
Hotel in Drumshanbo.
Both adults and children alike are invited to the event which will
see all of our underage county champions presented with their 2009
medals. In addition they will receive their honours from All-Ireland
winning Tyrone forward Stephen O'Neill who will be special guest on
the night.
Details of the event will be made public in the coming weeks but put
the date in your diary because it is sure to be a fantastic night.
Hopefully we will see club members and beyond present on the night.
Thanks
A belated thank you to Drumkeerin Handball and Leisure Ltd who
provided the hall for the recent soccer competition.
Yearly Lotto
Yearly lotto ticket sellers will be visiting in the next couple of
weeks to sign up people for the 2010 subscription of Drumkeerin GAA
Yearly Lotto. The generosity people showed last year was greatly
appreciated by the club and we are hoping that will continue this
year.
Tickets are Ä50 and in addition to being entered into every draw of
>the year, holders will also be entered into a confined monthly draw in
which they could win Ä100. If that was not enough they will received a
2010 Drumkeerin GAA supporter car sticker.
