Glencar/Manor pay tribute to Francie Mooney

January 22, 2010
A tribute has been paid to the late Francie Mooney by the Glencar/Manorhamilton club after his passing on Monday week last, January 11. A former player with the club, Francie's two sons Mark and Aidan helped the club to championship glory in 1999. Aidan had also kicked the last point in Leitrim's Connacht SFC final success. Francie also served as club chairman of the Coiste na Nog and the senior board and also went on to become Glencar/Manorhamilton's most successful chairman, having officiated over the club's championship win in 1998 and senior league and championship double of 199. A tribute sent into this week's Leitrim Observer from the club read: "Francie was continually described as a person who always had time for people and a person of immense generosity and good will. "When you mention our club name throughout the county there was always one name which was synonymous with the Glencar/Manorhamilton club. Francie had a life-long love for our club and his beloved GAA."
