Morrison issues apology

June 12, 2009
Leitrim's joint football manager John Morrison has apologised unreservedly for comments he made last week. Following the defeat to Roscommon, Morrison criticised a perceived negative attitude in the county but he has moved to retract the comments, explaining in a statement released through the Leitrim Observer newspaper: "All generalisations are dangerous. In the heat of the moment and driven by frustration and the disappointment of defeat, my post-championship game comment on negativity was taken out of context and became a generalisation which hurt and caused umbrage. "I have no hesitation, therefore, in humbly, sincerely and unreservedly apologising to all the people of Leitrim. I do hope my apology meets with favourable consideration. "I might add, if I may, my heartfelt appreciation of the welcome, hospitality and encouragement I have received since I came to Leitrim."
