Ballinamore celebrate historic occasion

The Ballinamore GAA club celebrated the opening of their new facilities last weekend amid huge support form the local community. GAA President Christy Cooney was present at the ceremony along with other county board dignitaries and hundreds of supporters, families and friends. Club chairman Adrian Smith that this was the culmination of many years work by a large number of people as the club's future was safe guarded for decades to come. "A lot of hard work is after going in over the last six to ten years in developing the grounds. I think it's safe to say that you'll have to go a long way to see something that is better than it," said Smith. "In a way we were lucky on two grounds in that we pushed our main fund-raising efforts when the Celtic Tiger was at its peak and that when people did work to finish things up, there was a bit of a recession going on."
