Ballylinan manager Paul Julian is eager to see the club end 30 years of heartache in Sunday's county SFC final.

Julian was nine years old when they last contested a county SFC final and as those memories fade off into the distant, the Ballylinan manager is hoping to make new memories this weekend.

Standing in their way of claiming glory are a dominant Portlaoise side that are determined to put the disappointment of last year's final loss well and truly behind them.

"It is great for the village and it has given the whole place a lift, which is great for a small club, because we are a small club with a big heart," Julian stated to the Leinster Express.

In his first year in charge, Julian is looking to complete the double as they have already won the league title earlier in the season.

"At any grade, to win a cup is a great thing for a club. To have kids looking up to your senior players, and wanting to be the best they can be is a great thing, and winning is everything for those kids."
