August 16, 2017

Defending Laois senior football champions Stradbally relinquished their title last weekend as an impressive Ballyfin Gaels outfit knocked them out of the SFC.

Stradbally went down by a solitary point, but their opponents were worthy winners having led by seven points at one stage during the second half of this contest.

The win sees Ballyfin earn a clash with Arles-Kilcruise, while former champions Portlaoise booked their place in the quarterfinals with an impressive 5-14 to 1-14 win over O'Dempsey's.

Joining them in the last eight so far are Ballylinan, Graiguecullen and Portarlington, while Stradbally face into a relegation semi-final where they will meet Arles-Kilcruise, while Clonaslee St Manman's Gaels play Mountmellick Gaels in the other semi.

The round three draw is as follows: St Josephs v Ballyfin G; Arles Killeen v Ballyroan Abbey; O'Dempseys v Crettyard G; The Heath v Killeshin.
