Rosenallis navigate first hurdle

November 23, 2016

The Rosenallis footballers celebrate.

The Rosenallis fairytale continues as even their own mentors can't believe what is happening.

Last Sunday, the Laois club captured their first ever Leinster club JFC title when they defeated favourites Bracknagh of Offaly in Tullamore.

The club are still aiming for a double as this Saturday; they take on Meath side Ratoath in the provincial club JHC semi-final.

Manager of the club's football team, Paddy Dunne admitted to the Leinster Express that it was difficult to put into words what was happening in the club.

"It's just unreal, who would have thought Rosenallis would be Leinster junior champions? Ever? It's just brilliant, we're absolutely delighted, and we'll go on now in two weeks' time and play whoever.

"No one ever gave us a chance this year, no one. From the first day against Stradbally over in Portarlington, it was nip and tuck, our performance wasn't right, but we knew we had a special group in these lads, and they do not know when they are beaten.

"They have a week's rest then they go again next Saturday, and that's all them boys need. They're just an unbelievable group of players, and it's absolutely immense."
