Laois chairman Gerry Kavanagh has described the decision to fix next summer's Leinster SFC quarter-final between Dublin and the winners of Laois and Wicklow for Nowlan Park as a "slap in the face".

Kavanagh was hopeful that his county's potential clash with the All-Ireland champions would be scheduled for Portlaoise, but Leinster Council delegates last night voted to fix the game for Kilkenny on Saturday, June 4 at 7pm. They did so on the basis that Nowlan Park boasts 17,734 seats compared to O'Moore Park's 6,000 seats, but Laois still aren't happy.

"We're disappointed. We couldn't put into words how we feel about it," Kavanagh is quoted in the Irish Independent.

It will be Dublin's first championship game outside Croke Park in a decade.
