Laois manager Seamus Plunkett admits that they are finding the Division 1B NHL campaign tough.

The O'Moore County suffered an 18-point defeat to Waterford in round two last weekend and having lost to Offaly in the first round, avoiding relegation is now a priority.

The Leinster side must plan without Stephen Maher for the remainder of the league campaign after he broke his collarbone during the defeat to Waterford. They face Antrim in the next round and know that won't be easy either.

"It is very tough," Plunkett told the Leinster Express. "But all the games in this division are tough, and we know that, particularly up there.

"They are difficult to beat up there, and we have seen over the years even Division 1 teams going up there in qualifiers and being lucky to come away with wins."
