Carroll steps down after 40 years

December 17, 2014

Abbeyleix clubman Mick Carroll was given a rapturous applause at last weekend's GAA convention as he stepped down after 40 years being involved with the county board.

Having held the position of Laois GAA secretary from 1979 to 1999, Carroll has also held numerous other positions on the board before and since then.

County Board chairman Gerry Kavanagh expressed his gratitude to Carroll at last weekend's county convention.

"He is a credit to himself, his wife Ann and to his club Abbeyleix," said Kavanagh. "He has befriended us all, and to be honest, I have nothing only the height of praise for this man, and I wish him a long and happy retirement."
