Arles Killeen manager Joe Higgins had no qualms over Portlaoise beating them for the second successive year.

A strong second half showing saw Portlaoise claim their eighth consecutive county title at the expense of an Arles Killeen side that many felt could break the town team's dominance.

Speaking to the Leinster Express, Higgins said: "I've no complaints whatsoever as Portlaoise were by far the better team on the day.

"They're not eight times champions for nothing and they proved it on the day." He added: "I've nothing only praise for the lads at the end of the day. Anything that I've been asked throughout the year, they've given and they never gave up. It's not in their nature to give up and unfortunately it just wasn't to be."
