Champions face aristocrats in Laois quarters

September 02, 2010
Laois hurling champions Clough-Ballacolla will face one of the leading lights of the county scene in the quarter-finals of the 2010 championship next week.

Clough-Ballacolla lifted their first senior crown in 91 years in 2009 but their defence of their crown will undergo a rigorous examination when they take on a Castletown side which has won five senior titles since 2000, and eight since 1995.

The champions have struggled to replicate their form of a year ago and Castletown are sure to go into the game as favourites to book a place in the last four.

The other quarter-finals see Portlaoise take on The Harps, Rathdowney-Errill meet Borris-in-Ossory and Camross meet Kilcotton.

The games will take place on the weekend of September 11/12.
