Roe not bitter after latest snub

Pat Roe Laois
Pat Roe has wished new Laois football manager Justin McNulty all the best after he was overlooked for the job for the third time.

One of three names nominated for the job, the former Wexford, Carlow and Offaly manager had made no secret of his desire to manage his native county, but instead Laois officials plumped for former Armagh full back McNulty, whose appointment was ratified last night.

Roe, who was critical of officials for stalling on the appointment, told the Irish Independent he will consider his position as Laois under 21 manager after this latest snub.

"I'm disappointed, but that's life. I wish Justin well. All that matters to me is that Laois prosper," he said.

"I would have loved the job but it's not to be. Whether I'll be under 21 manager next year, that's something I'll have to consider but it's something the Laois board will consider too."
