Dempsey: Clancy goal settled us

Padraig Clancy's fortuitous first half goal played a crucial part in Laois' Leinster SFC quarter-final victory over Louth at Parnell Park according to manager Sean Dempsey.
"Padraig's goal helped the young lads to settle down and Rory Stapleton, Ger Reddin and John O'Loughlin were excellent," he said.
"A win is a win and we're delighted with it. If you told me coming up this morning that we'd win by four points, I'd have took it but when we were nine points up, I had hoped we'd have pushed on but we didn't so it is something to work on over the next few weeks."
Dempsey admitted that Laois were lucky not to concede a penalty a minute after Aaron Hoey's goal had brought Louth back into it.
"I didn't see it myself, but a couple of people have said to me that they had every right call for the penalty."
