Reddin doubtful for Laois

June 13, 2009
An ankle injury is threatening Laois debutant Ger Reddin's participation in tomorrow's Leinster SFC quarter-final against Louth. The centre back, who is one of two championship newcomers named in manager Sean Dempsey's starting XV, went over on his ankle in training last weekend and is rated as a major doubt for the Parnell Park clash. The Mountmellick man, who lined out for the Laois under 21 hurlers in their recent Leinster championship defeat to Kilkenny, will undergo a fitness test tomorrow morning. If he fails to prove his fitness, fellow Mountmellick man John O'Loughlin is expected to switch from the wing to the centre with Billy Sheehan coming into the attack and Peter O'Leary dropping back into defence. Despite sitting his Leaving Cert in Knockbeg College at present, Donie Kingston will be expected to carry the main scoring threat to the Wee County tomorrow.
