Rigney proud of troops

Laois hurling manager Niall Rigney
Laois manager Niall Rigney feels that his players performed admirably against a very strong Galway side as the O'Moore County now prepare for the qualifiers.
Galway inflicted a drubbing on Laois to emphasis the gap between the sides, and their task was made all the more difficult following the dismissal of Michael McEvoy and James Young in the first half.
The Tribesmen did lose Kevin Hayes through a sending off also, but Laois were no match and now Rigney is calling on his young charges to regroup for the qualifiers.
"These are a young bunch of men, they're an average age of 22, they're kids really and for the last ten or 12 years when they have played championship games after 15 minutes they've been beaten, they've thrown in the towel and given up," said Rigney.
"These lads won't give and it's my job to make sure they don't give up. They've given up all their lives and I've told them that. People are knocking us and knocking Laois hurling, but they're only young fellas and they need to be told how proud people are of their efforts."
