O'Brien reveals delight at Ladies' triumph

Clare Ladies manager David O'Brien has revealed his delight with his side capturing the Division Two League title, while admitting that it was never an aim for his side until they reached the final. The Banner Ladies defeated Donegal in the Division Two decider last weekend by a single point on a score-line of 2-10 to 0-15, with the two decisive goals coming in the first half from Eimear Considine and Áine Kelly. "The goal was never to win the league. It was to hold our own. When we got to the final, we said we wanted to win it. But from tomorrow on, this has to be forgotten about," says O'Brien. With the Championship around the corner, the Banner Ladies boss is looking forward to his team making further impact this year with the style of football they played in their successful NFL campaign. "We've worked on it all year; when we don't have the ball, everyone filters back and we try to hit teams as fast as we can. We knew they weren't going to lie down. We got goals but they (Donegal) were well able to kick points."
