Cavan ladies deny Limerick

Cavan captured their first national league ladies football title at Semple Stadium on Saturday evening last when they secured a 1-9 to 1-5 win over Limerick in an exciting Division Three encounter. Cavan did most of their best work in the contest in the first half at the end of which they sat pretty on the back of a 0-8 to 0-2 lead. However Limerick produced a spirited second half display to really put it up to the long-time leaders with Eimear Enright's 46th minute goal putting the cat among the pidgeons. Enright's goal left just a single point between the sides with 12 minutes left to play but the Breffni girls upped the ante once more and Renee Murphy smashed home a last minute goal to seal the issue for the Ulster side
