Valerie Mulcahy has revealed how there was no talk of the five-in-a-row in the Cork dressing-room before yesterday's All-Ireland ladies football final.

The remarkable Rebelettes defeated Dublin for the second year running to secure their second five-in-a-row in 11 years, with Mulcahy, Brid Stack, Briege Corkery, Geraldine O'Flynn, Deirdre O'Reilly and Rena Buckley having been involved in all 10 successes.

"We didn't talk about it all year, but now that we have the All-Ireland, it's great to be able to say that we've got five-in-a-row," the ace forward said in the Irish Daily Star.

"Myself and Deirdre O'Reilly are around since the time we weren't winning matches at all. Back in those days, we couldn't win a championship match hardly.

"So we're drawing on that now, the past and the poor times, to allow us to really appreciate these times because they're special."
