The victorious Kilkenny team receive a heros welcome home with the Liam McCarthy Cup
Kilkenny are in rude health on and off the field delegates will be informed at tonight's county convention in the O'Loughlin Gaels Centre.
While many counties are in debt, accounts show that Kilkenny has a surplus of more than €200,000 at the end of 2011. The county board's coffers were swelled by a replay of the county senior hurling final between James Stephen's and Ballyhale Shamrocks which produced returns in excess of €80,000, while Kilkenny's qualification for the National League final against Dublin yielded an additional €40,000.
Delegates will also be asked to vote on an emergency motion asking that the term of the county board treasurer Barry Hickey, who has served the stipulated five years, be extended as he is the person nominated for the position.
