Ballykelly club notes

August 16, 2010
Our senior ladies got their championship hopes off to the best possible start with a comvincing 15 point victory over St Laurances on Wednesday evening. The first half was tight enough with the girls going in with a 5 point lead however they clicked into gear in the second half and St Laurances had no answer. Final score Ballykelly 4.12 St Laurances 2.3

the second team have drawn Sallins in the second round of the championship time and date to be confirmed later

Well done to the community games u12 girls team on winning gold at the national finals in Athlone and a big cheer also for their coaches Patsy and Sharon

Our u10 boys wellcomed Ballyteague, Moorefield B and Robertstown to Stephen O Rourke Memorial Park on Saturday for a Southboard blitz. The boys played Robertstown and Ballyteague and despite being short of some of our regulars due to holidays they won both games. The u10 league is due to start at the end of August and the lads are working hard on the training fields all summer and hopefully it will pay off.

It was the stuff of dreams over the weekend as the Monasterevin Parish u12 girls team captured the All Ireland title after a memorable game against Corrafin of Galway. They travelled in their numbers on Saturday to play Baileboro of Cavan in the semi final. They watched Corrafin easily dispose of Glanmire of Cork in the other semi and the knew the magnitude of the task before them. The girls beat Balieboro in their semi final on a scoreline of Monasterevin 2.13 Baileboro 2.3. They travelled home in fine spirits and got a good nights rest in preparation of the task ahead of them. They started the final in determined fashion and never let Corrafin settle. They went in at the break leading by 2.6 to 0.2. The second half was more of the same from the girls with them eventually running out winners on a scoreline of Monasterevin 3.15 Corrafin 3.5. Congratulations to each and every player on this historic achievement and we look forward to seeing you holding tropies aloft for many years to come. The panel in full were Alanna McLoughlin, Aine Nash, Amy Nash, Julia Marron, Sarah Hanlon, Claire Melia, Claire Earley, Aishling Kehoe, Caoimhe Holligan, Anna Delaney, Laura Cleary, Sarah Walsh, Lara Gilbert, Grace Dooley, Shauna Bond, Orla O Donavan, Chloe Carroll, Lauran Kelly, Katie Nealon and Aoife Stapleton.
