Kildare GAA mourns Davy Dalton

Kildare GAA is in mourning after the death of the county's 1956 Leinster SFC winning captain, Davy Dalton, who passed away last week at his home in Kilcock.

Davy played at left corner-forward when the Lilywhites captured their 11th provincial crown when they defeated Wexford in the final by 2-11 to 1-8.

His son, also named Davy, was a member of the Kildare team which captured the county's next Leinster title all of 42 years later when Mick O'Dwyer's men overcame Meath.

Davy Dalton snr's funeral took place last Tuesday, March 9, at the St Coca's Church in Kilcock which was followed by the burial at St Joseph's Cemetery.
