Kerry hadn't the stomach for Mayo, O'Sullivan recalls

Kerry's Darran O'Sullivan
Darran O'Sullivan has revealed how several Kerry players had stomach bugs before their surprise Allianz League semi-final loss to Mayo last month.
"On the morning (of the game), I was in the room and was talking to Colm (Cooper) and he was saying, 'I don't feel great'. I said, 'Jees, I don't feel great either'. I wasn't too bad, but there were fellas who were shook enough," he told The Irish Examiner at an Ulster Bank event in Dublin yesterday.
"Even if you feel a small bit funny, you're going into it mentally, 'Jees, I'll never last'. It just brings you down. There was a good few who had it but it was no excuse."
The flying half forward was also critical of the football championship structure which he believes is dragged out too much.
"It's one of those things that should be really thought out. It is a pain in the ass as a footballer waiting four or five weeks for a game," he continued.
"If your form is good for the first two games, when you're playing five weeks later it's very hard to keep that momentum going. It's too long and something should be done. There are enough people up there (Croke Park) to be thinking of something."
