Walsh's dream AFL debut
May 19, 2012
Tommy Walsh marked his AFL debut with a two-goal haul in the Sydney Swans' 138-37 demolition of the Melbourne Demons at the SCG in the early hours of this morning.
The 2009 All-Ireland winner, who had waited two-and-a-half years to make his AFL bow, looks set to follow in the footsteps of fellow Kerry man Tadhg Kennelly after a most impressive debut for the Harbour City club. According to the AFL website, Walsh "nearly kicked the ball out of the stadium to get off the mark in his first AFL game" when scoring his first goal in the second quarter.
The Tralee man, who joined the Swans from St. Kilda at the start of the season, added another late on and was named as one of the Swans' best overall performers on the night.
