Munster MFC: Free-scoring Kingdom book final spot
May 17, 2012
Kerry 0-17
Clare 3-4
Kerry will have the chance to avenge their first round defeat to Tipperary after they made it through to the Munster MFC final at Cusack Park, Ennis last night.
With the benefit of a couple of extra games in the backdoor series, Mickey Ned O'Sullivan's charges had too much firepower for a Clare side who relied on goals from Conor Cleary (two) and Jamie Malone to stay in touch.
The Kingdom led by 0-10 to 2-3 at the break with Clare's first goal coming from a Cleary penalty after his twin brother Eoin was taken down, while team captain Jamie Malone grabbed the second.
The visitors upped the ante after the restart with Conor Keane helping himself to some excellent scores, but the Banner were handed a lifeline when Cleary scored their third goal from a free to leave the minimum in it with two minutes remaining.
But Kerry replied with points from Eanna Ó Conchúir, Seán Moloney and Niall Sheehy to seal their place in the decider.
