John Meyler wants to steer Kerry back into the Munster SHC.

The Kingdom open their defence of the Christy Ring Cup against Wicklow in Arklow tomorrow and manager Meyler sees the match as the first step towards an eventual provincial championship return:

"We see this year's Christy Ring as a big step, to prepare for the Munster championship - whether that's next year or the year after," he says in The Irish Sun.

"It's good to test the young fellas to see if they're ready. If they're ready, then we'll sit down in September, October and decide what to do.

"We will be favourites [against Wicklow] but it will be tough." Tweet
