Donaghy returns to training

June 25, 2009

The one and only Kieran Donaghy
Kieran Donaghy is on course to play for Kerry in their All-Ireland football qualifier on July 11 after returning to training on Tuesday night. The session also saw the return of Kilcummin defender Mike McCarthy from retirement, who has been absent from the squad since 2006. Aidan O'Mahony showed no ill-effects from a recent shoulder injury during the session, but Killian Young and Marc O Sé were unable to take part. Young suffered a recurrence of a shoulder injury in a club game last weekend, while O Se is troubled by a knee problem. Former Footballer of the Year Donaghy has been sidelined since breaking a bone in his foot during the NFL final against Derry, and his absence was sorely felt as the Kingdom crashed out the Munster SFC at the hands of arch-rivals Cork.
