Shannon takes world title number three

Antrim's Fiona Shannon defeated fellow Belfast handballer, Aisling Reilly, in the Ladies Open Final at the World Handball Championships in Portland, Oregon today. Shannon collected her third title in succession with a 21-19, 21-15 victory over Reilly. The pair face each other in the court again later this morning when Reilly partners Kerry's Maria Daly against Shannon and sister, Sibeal, in the Ladies Open Doubles Final. The Men's Open Doubles Final is currently underway where Dublin's Eoin Kennedy and Cavan's Michael Finnegan take on Westmeath's Robbie McCarthy and Meath's Brian Carroll.
