Ladies out for revenge this weekend

June 19, 2009
Galway Ladies are set to commence their TG4 Connacht senior football championship campaign this Sunday with a tough semi-final test against Sligo at Tuam. Both sides met at the same stage of last year's competition, where the Yeats women pulled off a major shock by defeating the 2004 All-Ireland champions on a score-line of 2-9 to 0-13. Now, Gay O'Brien's side have been given the perfect chance for revenge when they welcome their neighbours across the county border, but they will no doubt have to be cautious to avoid another upset like last year. "No incentive will be needed for this one," said the Galway manager. "They have been ticking over, waiting for this game, for the last 12 months. "They have been training away since the league and I am happy enough with what we have donewe have played a number of challenge matches, against the likes of Monaghan, Down, Meath and Limerick." The two teams will clash this Sunday, June 21, at Tuam Stadium, where throw-in time has been scheduled for 2.30pm.
