Canning wants consistency

Joe Canning Portumna and Galway
Galway hurling sensation Joe Canning believes that the only way the Tribesmen will lift the Liam McCarthy Cup is if they start showing more consistency in their displays. Canning believes that the move into the Leinster championship will help Galway's cause, but he stressed that it does not give them a right to win an All-Ireland title although he feels that with the new management team in place, they have a realistic chance of doing so. "The new manager has put a good backroom team in place, with a lot of experienced guys. John Hardiman has worked with a lot of the lads at minor and U-21s level and Joe Connolly is one of the greatest captains and hurlers Galway has produced," he stated. "People have to realise that we can't expect to win an all-Ireland just because we are playing in Leinster. Yet, there is no reason why we can't win an All-Ireland if we put a good run together. The thing against Galway over the last few years was that we'd be brilliant one day and s**t the next. Hopefully, having a few more competitive matches will help us sort that out."
