Turloughmore get final re-fixed
December 10, 2008
An under 16 hurling final in Galway has been re-fixed after the Turloughmore club successfully argued that the original fixture was not issued in Irish.
The final between Turloughmore and Athenry was due to take place last Sunday week, but was not played after the former failed to appear. The title was then awarded to Athenry who had turned up to fulfil the fixture with a minor board official on hand to present the cup to the winning team.
However, Turloughmore appealed the decision on the grounds that the teams' names weren't written in Irish and a re-fixture has now been set for this weekend.
