Galway spent EUR5,000 a week on hurling expenses
December 10, 2008
The Galway hurling board had outgoings of over EUR1 million this year, contributing to an overall county board deficit of almost EUR97,000.
Two-thirds of the total hurling expenditure went on looking after county teams. The senior hurling squad and management clocked up a travel bill of EUR247,000, which is almost EUR5,000 a week.
However, delegates will be told at tonight's hurling board convention in New Inn that the overall cost of running Galway hurling was down on last year's figure. This year, it cost EUR1,019,848, a reduction of almost EUR100,000 on the 2007 figure, which is just as well as income was down around EUR25,000.
