Portumna 0-18 Beagh 2-9 A tally of 0-12 from teenage sensation Joe Canning proved decisive last Sunday in Ballinasloe as Portumna edged past Beagh to this year's Galway Senior Hurling League title. In exciting clash, given the tough underfoot conditions at Duggan Park, Portumna were looked to be heading in at the interval with a two-point lead before Brendan Gantley netted the game's first goal a minutes from the break to put Beagh in front. Joe Canning was on hand to send over a free before the break to put them level, and within five minutes of the restart they were back in front through full-forward Ciaran Ryan's sole point if the evening. After that Beagh netted their second major through Jonathan Morris to help establish a 2-5 to 0-9 lead, but from there the All-Ireland champions propelled to victory, outscoring their opponents by 0-9 to 0-4 in the final quarter, with young Canning to the forefront.
