Not since the momentous year of 2005, when Lisnaskea seniors grabbed their second McKeown Cup win and later that year notched an historic win over St Teresa's of Belfast in the pelimarly round of the Ulster Junior Hurling Championship has they east Fermanagh side being such buoyant mood. Make no mistake about this was not a freak win by the Emmett lads, but the third of three very competitive matches, with firstly defeating Sean Mac Cumhall's of Ballybofey of county Donegal in a morale boosting An Tain Round "1" victory. Then over a week ago in Round "2" they saw off at their temporary home at Teemore G.A.A. grounds Derry City's Na Magha, and last Saturday the Lisnaskea lads created history in Round "3" yet when they completed the treble with a devastating win over Strabane S, with a telling final score of 2 goals 11 points to a modest 4 points for the Shamrock's. The scoring icing on the 'Skea cake is that they Emmett's are top of the An Tain Division 3B, with a maximum of 6 points. They arch Fermanagh rivals Lisbellaw, who last Saturday halted their run of defeats, with an away win over hosts Castleblaney. They St Patrick's side are lying in mid table, with 2 points from 3 matches.

The Game - The First Half

This Round "3" match in Division "3" of the An Tain Hurling league of 2012 began to back drop of howling gale, which in the opening half favoured they visitors Strabane, though it was 'Skea's left half forward Paul McGolderick who pucked over his and sides first point from a free. Moments later they latter was joined in an early Emmett mini scoring blitz by his team mate and centre half forward Shea Curran, who opened this games scoring with a well taken point from play. They visible Shamrock's got quickly into the scoring game, when Brian Mc Gilligan clipped over his side's first point from play. Despite the gale first win at their backs, it was their host's Lisnaskea who registered this game's fourth score, a third point for they Emmett's pucked over by they very in form Paul McGolderick. As this game's first quarter was quickly ending Strabane's Peter O'Connor clipped over the north west Tyrone's second point. If the connoisseur of hurling who were present were expecting additional scores from the previous home victorious over Lisbellaw, they were to be disappointed. Next minor scoring in the matches early second quarter came they game's hosts 'Skea' who registered their fourth and final point from they efferscent Paul McGolderick, who slotted over his third point from a free. With less than five minutes to this game's interval Strabane Peter O'Connor popped over his second and his side's third point. Moments this game's referee blew for half time, and they near exhausted teams made for the relative shelter of Teemore dugouts. Of they two contestant teams, it was the 'Skea side, who would half more satisfaction , not because they were in front, with modest 4 points to three points over their visitors, but importantly they Emmett's successfully against gale force win, which would be at their backs in this matches concluding half.

Lisnaskea Come Storming Through.

As predicted the driving win would have a beneficial advantage to the host side Lisnaskea, who had successfully weathered its full howling force in this game opening half. However what was never predicted by even they most fanatical of Skea supporters was massive scoring dominance they east Fermanagh side would utilise the dominating weather conditions for their scoring advantage. As in this matches opening moments it was the Emmett's side that powered on for more scores, both minor and major. Softening their visiting opponents Lisnaskea Paul McGolderick popped over his fourth and his side's fifth point from a free. They increasingly confident Emmett side now stepped up their now unremitting attack's on the now increasingly porous Strabane defences, who initially were glad to concede frees, resulting in scorible points by their opponents lethally attackers. It was the turn of 'Skea right half back Kevin Mohan, who clipped over his solo score and his ides seventh point. As this game's third quarter was coming to an end, they now in supremely confident Skea side seized this game by the scruff of its neck. Then almost immediately they Emmett's went onto a major rampage, with they Emmett's newly arrived sub., Micky O'Hora, who celebrated his recent arrival on the playing park, with superbly taken goal. They was no let for they hapless and embattled Strabane, and their host's forcing their Strabane visitors into conceding a '65, which Paul McGolderick struck superbly driving the slither fast and furious into his opponents net. for Lisnaskea and they game's second and last goal. Entering this matches fourth and final quarter and the games current scoring being 2 goals 7 points, there was no way back for them now hapless Tyrone visitors, who now unfortunately gifted their hosts with easy score in chances for their opponents increasingly easy to score. They now extremely victorious Emmett side now honed their defending attacking skills, resulting in a further four points from firstly Jason McManus, one point and Paul McGolderick with a withering three points. This game was not just a victory for Lisnaskea Emmett's but for Fermanagh senior hurling, who had down a scoring trouncing to a visiting, which came down to the Erneside, with expectations of a relatively easy win. For the triumphant Emmett's they have now under to rest and recuperate before taking on their arch Fermanagh rivals Lisbellaw St Patrick's up at Cavanacarragh Hurling Park on Saturday 4th March, 2012.
