McKenna Cup: Tyrone end Canavan's run

Fermanagh manager Peter Canavan with Tyrone manager Mickey Harte after the McKenna Cup game at Healy Park
Tyrone 0-13
Fermanagh 1-7
Peter Canavan suffered his first defeat as Fermanagh manager at the hands of his native Tyrone in front of a bumper 7,000 crowd at Healy Park last night.
However, he will have an opportunity to avenge the defeat this weekend as Fermanagh qualified to face the unbeaten Red Hands again in the semi-finals as a best runner-up. Canavan will be pleased with the battling qualities his new changes showed in the second half after they had looked to be facing a heavy defeat at half-time.
After a slow start, the impressive Stephen O'Neill got the home side off the mark in the eighth minute, and they went on to dominate the remainder of the half with O'Neill, Mickey Murphy, Peter Hughes and Tommy McGuigan all scoring at will to establish a 0-10 to 0-1 lead at the interval. Fermanagh's only first half score came from a Daniel Kille free.
But the Erne County refused to wilt and reduced the arrears with points from Seamus and Conor Quigley before the youngest of the Quigley brothers, Sean, rattled the net midway through the second half.
When Seamus Quigley landed his fifth point, the margin was down to two, but Fermanagh then had their captain Ryan McCluskey sent off on a second yellow card, and Tyrone held on for the win.
