Annual General Meeting 2011

The Annual General Meeting of the Fermanagh Hurling Board took place on Wednesday last the 11th January, 2012 held the Railway Hotel, Enniskillen sponsors of this county's senior hurling team. Chaired once more by Peter Bogue of Tempo Maguire, with hurling board's secretary Jacinta Teague of Lisbellaw St Patrick's along side him at the 'top table', both efficiently but speedily read out their respective reports on Fermanagh's hurling record for 2011.

Hurling Chairman's Address.

Peter Boguewas firstly complementary on the Ernesider's county teams at both Senior and Minor level. Though there was no silverware to show, both teams performed in an exemplary manner given good performances in every match they played. Looking forward to the new year Peter Bogue is keenly interest in the new regional hurling competition the inaugural 'Tain Hurling League' with over sixty hurling clubs from thirteen counties, and from the three provinces of Connaught, Leinster and the competition "Hosts" Ulster. This competition begins on Saturday 4th February, 2012, at 2.00pm,

Beginning to conclude his address they chairman's Peter Bogue wished this county's Senior, minor and under twenty one teams great success in the various competitions such as the National Hurling League, when they senior hurlers compete against Leitrim, Longford and Warwickshire. With this competition beginning on Sunday March 18th, 2012, with a home fixture against Warwickshire. Almost two months later on Saturday 5th May 2012. Our senior hurlers begin their involvement in the Lory Meagher, with their opening game again against Warwickshire. Concluding his Annual General Meeting Address Peter Bogue wished all the hurling clubs, their teams from under twelve to senior level the very best in the hurling season of 2012.

Then continuing her secretary's report complemented they young intercounty hurlers who competed well at that level. Signalling for mentioning their sterling performance in the Ulster U-16 Hurling Blitz. Played at Dungiven, County Derry on Saturday 7th May 2011. Concluding her report Jacinta Teague, whilst admitting that hurling was last year of 2011 was holding on "by its' finger nails" the new year will witness new developments particular in the intercounty and inter club Tain Tropy. However the election of former county hurler Patsy Dolan to the very prestigious position of Fermanagh County Chairman will surely be major boost to hurling in the county

Special Guests

County chairman's address, Patsy Dolan on beginning his short but detailed speech to the Fermanagh County Hurling Board thanked all who supported him in becoming Chairman of the G.A.A. in this county. Then immediately addressing the developments needed to boost hurling in the Fermanagh, said that various plans were coming to fruition in the immediate future to help hurling expand in this county.

Fermanagh and Ulster Hurling Development Officer, Paul Devily was the second the two invited guests to address the meeting. The Wexford born hurling instructor highlighted the magnificent win in their first year by St Michael's College Enniskillen of a provincial trophy. Paul informed us because of that great win the St Mick's team were being promoted to Division "2" in the Ulster Colleagues competition in 2012. The final guest to speak was Ulster Camogie Development Officer Evan Mohan, who reported on the establishing comogie in Fermanagh clubs and schools.

Jimmy Johnny McManus newly elected Fermanagh P.R.O. kept a quiet and a professional observer role at his first Fermanagh Hurling A.G.M... The hurlers of this county especially welcome this important appointment to the Fermanagh County Board.
