McKenna Cup: Fermanagh win again
January 15, 2012
The Peter Canavan factor was evident again as Fermanagh made it two wins from two.
At Enniskillen today, the Ernesmen romped to a 2-13 to 0-10 victory over Queen's, with brilliant full forward Seamus Quigley contributing 1-8 for a second successive Sunday.
The winners led by 0-9 to 0-5 at the short whistle.
There was a huge crowd at Brewster Park again and Roslea's Quigley was the star turn with six first-half points, including four frees, none of them routine. Pat Cadden also landed two points before the break.
Derry player James Kielt hit three points for the students in the first half.
The winners were home and hosed as they led by 1-10 to 0-6 at the three-quarters stage, with Mark Little among the half-time subs.
Who else but Quigley got the Ernesiders' goal after 42 minutes, latching onto Eoin Donnelly's high ball.
Donal O'Hare - who bagged four points for the losers - replied with a free and Fermanagh's Paul Cosgrove was sent off with a second yellow card.
Paul Ward pounced for Fermanagh's second goal and there's a feeling in the county that the team is gathering meaningful momentum.
