Save Fermanagh GAA's Senior Team Survey

The analysis of the Save Fermanagh GAA's Senior Team Survey has been formulated by an independent auditor. The response was unprecedented with 1,188 survey participants. There were 97 duplicates which weren't counted.

The online survey commenced at 13.00hrs - Friday 1st April, 2011 and at 13.00hrs Tuesday, 12th April 2011 the final results were collected and the analysis are as follows.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSES:
1. Overwhelming support for the 'eleven' county players - every 8 out of 10 respondents support them.
2. Nearly 80% believe that John O'Neill should stand down as Fermanagh manager.
3. The vast majority (83%) do not support the Fermanagh County Board'' decision not to compromise.
4. Peter McGinnity and Darren Chapman polled the most for the best replacement manager to John O'Neill.
5. A "no confidence" vote was established in the Fermanagh County Board. Over 83% of Fermanagh's GAA community stated they have no confidence in the current board members.
6. Most shocking was the fact that very few (less than 7%) knew who their Fermanagh County Board members were. Even worst, less than 50% could name the chairman of the board.

Yes 81.5%
No 18.5%

Question 2. Do you believe John O'Neill should step down as the Fermanagh Senior team manager?
Answer:
Yes 77.8%
No 22.2%

Question 3. Do you believe that the Fermanagh County Board has made the correct decision to reject the recommendations of the GAA/GPA?
Answer:Yes 17.1%
No 82.9%

Question 4. Who do you believe would be the best replacement senior football manager for Fermanagh?
Answer:
Best text comment: Someone who has sufficient county managerial experience, strong backroom team and the respect of the players and ability to unite, lead and motivate.

Among the top responses were in order:
1. Peter McGinnity
2. Darren Chapman
3. Sean Maguire
4. Peter Canavan
5. Dom Corrigan
This section attracted a significant amount of criticism about the current county senior manager but for legal reasons cannot be published.

Question 5. Do you believe that the Fermanagh County Board has the support of the GAA fraternity in the county (i.e. clubs, players, fans)?
Answer:
Yes 16.7%
No 83.3%

Question 6. How well do you know your county board - can you name who they are?
Answer:
Surprising very few (6.6%) could name the full list of Fermanagh County Board members.
However, collectively, 47.2% were able to name the county board chairman, Peter Carty.
