The late John Egan

Dublin GAA has been plunged into mourning following the tragic death of former county board chairman John Egan in a road accident on Sunday evening. Aged 58, Mr Egan died after his bicycle was in collision with a parked car in Enfield, Co. Meath. He was brought to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he died from his injuries. A former principal of Haddington Road Boys' National School in Dublin 4, he is survived by his wife Roisin and their children. A native of Killester, Mr Egan served as Dublin chairman from 2000 to 2002 and was a member of the Clan na Gael club in Ringsend. Also known as Sean MacAogain, he was particularly well known for his work in the promotion of the Irish language.
