Byrne to assist Dubs

Former Kilkenny captain Denis Byrne will act as a skills coach to the Dublin hurling team ahead of their Leinster SHC semi-final against Wexford on June 9. Byrne, who also played for Tipperary, linked up with the Dublin squad last week for a skills session and will continue to be involved until the Wexford game. "I'm delighted to give a hand out. We have four more weeks before the championship and I'll be with them once a week," the Graigue-Ballycallan clubman said. Dublin boss Tommy Naughton revealed that this wasn't the first time Byrne had assisted the Metropolitans. He explained: "Denis worked with Humphrey Kelleher a couple of years ago when Humphrey was in charge and he'll be doing more of the same. It's all aimed at bringing a bit of variety to the training sessions."
