O'Callaghan not joining Dublin hurlers

May 03, 2007
Dublin hurling boss Tommy Naughton has confirmed that dual star David 'Dotsy' O'Callaghan won't be rejoining the hurlers following his defection from the county football squad. "My understanding is that he's going to the States. That's life," said a disappointed Naughton. The St. Mark's clubman would have proved a welcome addition to the Dublin hurling squad, especially in light of star forward Kevin O'Reilly's cruciate ligament injury. In the same week as he quit the Dublin football panel, O'Callaghan underlined his hurling ability by scoring 3-6 in a club match against Erin's Isle. Meanwhile, wing back Derek O'Reilly is rated doubtful for the Leinster SHC semi-final against Wexford on June 9 with a hamstring problem.
