Hegarty brace downs DIT

February 15, 2007
It was goals that counted as IT Sligo booked their place in the quarter-finals of this year's Sigerson Cup with a 3-8 to 0-8 win over DIT at Ballinode. Donegal native Michael Hegarty did much of the damage on behalf of the westerners with a brace of well-taken goals. Hegarty's two goals helped his side storm their way into a 2-1 to 0-6 lead by the interval and although DIT improved on the restart they hadn't the ammunition up front to find the goals they needed to rescue the match.
