Kavanagh boots UCD out

15 January 2007
Longford scoring sensation Brian Kavanagh was back on board as Longford cruised past UCD in the O’Byrne Cup Shield, with the full forward notching ten points during the course of the game.

Longford 2-16
UCD 0-10

Luke Dempsey’s side completely dominated the opening half and grabbed their first goal when a Noel Farrell effort was misjudged by UCD net minder Stephen Gallagher. Kavanagh struck over seven points in that first period as the home side led by 1-12 to 0-3 at the break.

Wind aided in the second period, UCD began to eat into the deficit until Longford’s Gary Murphy grabbed a second major.
