Michael Darragh Macauley says Ballyboden showed heart in grinding out victory after extra time in yesterday's All-Ireland club SFC semi-final against Clonmel Commercials.

The Dublin and Leinster champions had trailed for large portions of the second-half before Darragh Nelson grabbed their equaliser to force extra time, where the Tipperary men were held scoreless to ensure a 0-15 to 0-10 victory.

"Things were looking grim with about five minutes to go in normal time. We were a few points down and had a man sent off (Declan O'Mahoney) but we dug deep," Macauley told RTE Sport.

"This team showed heart. Everybody looked around and showed a bit more belief and we dug it out in the end. Darragh got that great point at the end of normal time."

The former Footballer of the Year also admitted that Commercials were "unlucky" to see star forward Michael Quinlivan go off on a black card in extra time and is now relishing the prospect of an All-Ireland final showdown with Castlebar Mitchel's next month.

"I've been there watching the Ballymun and St Vincent's lads on the big day and I know what comes with it. We have to come back down to earth now and re-focus for the final," said the Dublin midfielder.
