Sheedy will always be a Dub

Longford manager Jack Sheedy says he is still a Dub and always will be.

Sheedy's midlanders will try to cause the shock of the century when they face holders Dublin in Sunday's Leinster SFC quarter-final at Croke Park; the former Dubs midfielder reckons Jim Gavin's charges are ten points better than every other side in the province:

"There is a gulf there," he states in The Irish Daily Mirror. "But we played Meath twice this year already in the O'Byrne Cup and in a challenge and they are working extremely hard to get the structures right further down from the senior team - but everybody is playing catch-up.

"Dublin are - playing at their best - probably ten points better than any other team in Leinster at the moment. It would be a bit worrying, but that gap will close.

"I am here coaching Longford now. I love every minute of it but I'm still a very proud Dub and always will be. So for me, going to Croke Park is a massive challenge, but one I am looking forward to.

"Once we go and perform and give a good account of ourselves, which I expect we will do, then I'll be proud of our lads and that's the most important thing."
