Ger Cunningham has not been approached about the vacant Dublin hurling manager's post.
The legendary Cork goalkeeper has been mentioned as a possible successor to Anthony Daly, who stepped down 10 days ago, but insisted at a promotional event for this weekend's All-Ireland U21HC final that he hasn't spoken to anyone about the vacancy.
"There's been no approach," said the man who was part of Cork boss Jimmy Barry-Murphy's management last year.
Cunningham also believes Kilkenny have more room for improvement than Tipperary ahead of the All-Ireland SHC final replay on September 27.
"You don't normally hear Kilkenny conceding 1-28," he said.
"Even last year people said Clare might have missed a chance, and on the second day both teams performed. You'd probably say Kilkenny have more room for improvement than Tipp but I don't think there's much advantage to either side."
