Kehoe Cup: St. Pats overcome Wicklow
January 30, 2012
Having seen off Louth last weekend, St. Patrick's Drumcondra saw off yet another inter county opponent with a 3-11 to 2-9 victory over Wicklow at Greystones on Sunday afternoon.
Played in terrible conditions, the students held the advantage at half time with a 1-7 to 0-7 lead. It looked as if both sides would go in at the break all square but Kilkenny's Canice Maher had different ideas when he buried to the Wicklow net.
Wicklow fought back after the resumption as Casey O'Brien made a number of changes. However, there was to be no comeback as Maher once again and Lorcan French ensured victory for the visitors with their goals.
St. Pats will now meet holders Meath for a place in the Kehoe Cup final.
