Dublin's All-Ireland winning captain Bryan Cullen has been assisting the Irish rugby team in their preparations for the Six Nations.
Cullen, who works for Leinster rugby, was drafted in by Leinster's full-time strength and conditioning coach Jason Cowman, who previously trained the Westmeath footballers during Tomas O Flatharta's reign. The Ireland team is currently without a Head Fitness Coach, and Cowman has been asked to fill in.
"The Ireland squad don't currently have a Head Fitness Coach as Philip Morrow, who was with us at the World Cup, has move to Saracens," the IRFU's Karl Richardson told the Irish Daily Star.
"An IRFU Head Fitness Coach is empowered to appoint and use his own Strength and Conditioning staff for a Six Nations campaign. So, in the interim, we have asked Leinster's full-time strength and conditioning coach Jason Cowman to fill in.
"He has been allowed select his own staff - and he chose Bryan Cullen whom he works alongside every week at club level. It is a professional working relationship, but it is nonetheless great to have someone such as Bryan who must be easy for the players to relate to."
