Dublin awards for Kavanagh and Maguire

December 20, 2010
Brian Kavanagh and Gary Maguire have been named as the Evening Herald/Dublin Bus Dubs Stars footballer and hurler of the year respectively.

Longford ace Kavanagh was in sparkling form for Kilmacud Crokes during their Dublin SFC success and their march to the Leinster club final against Rhode, which has been postponed until January 21. He scored 2-24 during the Stillorgan club's six-game Dublin SFC campaign which culminated in a county final victory over St. Brigid's.

The hurling award went to county goalkeeper Gary Maguire, who captained Ballyboden St. Enda's to their fourth successive Dublin SHC title. Maguire was outstanding between the posts as 'Boden became the first club since Garda in the late 1920s to achieve such a feat. Maguire has been beaten just twice in the last four county finals.
