Injury rules out Fennell's club return

Dublin's Eamonn Fennell
A hip injury has put paid to the prospect of Eamonn Fennell lining out for O'Toole's in tonight's Dublin SFC clash with holders Ballyboden St. Enda's.

The Dublin midfielder has been locked in a bitter dispute with the club who have repeatedly blocked his attempts to transfer away from them, first to Ballymun Kickhams and then to St. Vincent's.

Fennell faces the prospect of not being allowed to play for Dublin if he continues to refuse to line out for O'Toole's, but on this occasion a hip injury has left him with no choice on the matter.

He told the Irish Examiner: "I had a cortisone injection for my hip injury (Wednesday), and I won't be able to train or play football for two weeks," explained Fennell last night. "So there is no way that I would be able to play for O'Toole's tomorrow (Thursday) even if I wanted to."
